Ingredients:
- 2 lbs Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and sliced
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 pint vanilla bean ice cream
Instructions:
- Peel and core the apples. Slice them into uniform wedges about 1/4 inch thick.
- Toss the slices in a bowl with the lemon juice. Note: This prevents oxidation.
- Melt the butter in a large non stick skillet over medium heat until it begins to foam.
- Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cook the sugar mixture for about 1 minute until a bubbling syrup forms.
- Add the apple slices to the pan.
- Stir gently to coat every slice in the cinnamon glaze.
- Cook for 5–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and the liquid is glossy.
- Place a scoop of vanilla ice cream into a bowl.
- Spoon the warm cinnamon apples immediately over the top.
