Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 3 ½ cups (420g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 tsp (10ml) pure vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp (30ml) heavy cream
- ¼ tsp (1.5g) fine sea salt
Instructions:
- Beat the softened butter on medium high speed for 3-5 minutes until the color shifts from yellow to a pale ivory.
- Reduce the mixer speed to low.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar one cup at a time.
- Increase the speed to medium for 2 minutes until the mixture becomes a stiff, cohesive paste.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and heavy cream.
- Beat on medium high for another 2 minutes until the texture is velvety and smooth.
- Check the consistency.
- Add more cream one teaspoon at a time if it's too stiff.
- Add powdered sugar one tablespoon at a time if it's too soft.
- Give it one final 30 second whip on high for a glossy finish.
