Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Superfine sugar (Castor sugar)
  • 1 tsp Fresh lemon zest
  • 2 oz Premium Vodka
  • 0.75 oz Cointreau or high-quality Triple Sec
  • 0.75 oz Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz Rich Simple Syrup (2:1 sugar to water ratio)

Instructions:

  1. Place the superfine sugar and lemon zest on a small plate. Use your fingers to rub the zest into the sugar until it becomes fragrant and slightly damp to release the essential oils.
  2. Run a lemon wedge around the edge of a chilled coupe or martini glass and dip it into the citrus sugar at a 45-degree angle, ensuring a clean, even coat on the outside only.
  3. Using a jigger, measure and combine the vodka, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice, and rich simple syrup into a stainless steel cocktail shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker to the brim with large, solid ice cubes.
  5. Shake the mixture with violent intent for approximately 15 seconds to emulsify the syrup and aerate the citrus juice for a velvety texture.
  6. Double strain the mixture through a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh conical strainer into the prepared glass to remove ice shards and lemon pulp.
