Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp Superfine sugar (Castor sugar)
- 1 tsp Fresh lemon zest
- 2 oz Premium Vodka
- 0.75 oz Cointreau or high-quality Triple Sec
- 0.75 oz Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 0.5 oz Rich Simple Syrup (2:1 sugar to water ratio)
Instructions:
- Place the superfine sugar and lemon zest on a small plate. Use your fingers to rub the zest into the sugar until it becomes fragrant and slightly damp to release the essential oils.
- Run a lemon wedge around the edge of a chilled coupe or martini glass and dip it into the citrus sugar at a 45-degree angle, ensuring a clean, even coat on the outside only.
- Using a jigger, measure and combine the vodka, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice, and rich simple syrup into a stainless steel cocktail shaker.
- Fill the shaker to the brim with large, solid ice cubes.
- Shake the mixture with violent intent for approximately 15 seconds to emulsify the syrup and aerate the citrus juice for a velvety texture.
- Double strain the mixture through a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh conical strainer into the prepared glass to remove ice shards and lemon pulp.
