Ingredients:

  • 4 large Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and sliced (approx. 900g)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Peel and slice the apples into consistent 1/4-inch wedges. Toss the slices immediately with lemon juice in a bowl to prevent oxidation.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter over medium heat in a 12-inch non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan. Add the apple slices in a single layer and sauté for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the edges soften and turn light golden.
  3. Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt evenly over the apples. Pour in the water and stir gently to combine.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for another 5 minutes until the liquid reduces into a thick, velvety syrup that coats the apples.
