Ingredients:
- 4 large Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and sliced (approx. 900g)
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Peel and slice the apples into consistent 1/4-inch wedges. Toss the slices immediately with lemon juice in a bowl to prevent oxidation.
- Melt the unsalted butter over medium heat in a 12-inch non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan. Add the apple slices in a single layer and sauté for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the edges soften and turn light golden.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt evenly over the apples. Pour in the water and stir gently to combine.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for another 5 minutes until the liquid reduces into a thick, velvety syrup that coats the apples.
