Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) baking powder
  • 2 oz (60g) semi-sweet chocolate, melted
  • 24 small square chocolate pieces
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tube (15g) black decorating icing
  • 24 small pieces of yellow sour candy belts

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk melted butter and granulated sugar until combined; beat in eggs and vanilla extract.
  3. Sift in cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder, stirring by hand until just combined.
  4. Spread batter evenly in the pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are set but center is slightly soft.
  5. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan, then lift by parchment paper to a cutting board.
  6. Slice brownies into 24 equal small squares.
  7. Pipe a small dollop of black icing or melted chocolate on the center of each square and press a chocolate square on top.
  8. Pipe a thin line of black icing from the center of the chocolate square to the edge, attaching a piece of yellow candy to the end as a tassel.
