Ingredients:
- 4 large Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples (approx. 2 lbs / 900g), peeled, cored, and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Toss the apple slices in a large bowl with the lemon juice until lightly coated to preserve color and add acidity.
- Arrange the slices in a single layer in a 9x13 inch baking dish, slightly overlapping them like shingles.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and salt until the mixture is smooth and the sugar has partially dissolved.
- Pour the cinnamon glaze evenly over the arranged apple slices, using a brush or spoon to ensure all edges are coated.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes until the apples are tender and the glaze is bubbling and mahogany-colored.
