Ingredients:
- 2 cups (180g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1.5 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (225g) unsweetened applesauce
- 0.5 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 0.75 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- 1 tbsp (8g) ground cinnamon
- 0.5 tsp (3g) salt
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp (30ml) milk
- 0.5 tsp (2g) vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Stir in the rolled oats until evenly distributed.
- Fold in the melted butter, brown sugar, and applesauce. Mix with a rubber spatula until the batter is uniform and no streaks of flour remain.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with the back of a spoon.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until the edges are golden-brown and the center feels set but springy.
- Remove from the oven and let the bars cool completely in the pan.
- Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together until velvety, then drizzle over the cooled bars before slicing into 20 squares.
